Geomembranes

Geomembranes

In construction, there is no clear definition of the word geomembrane, any insulating material that is part of the underground structure, including the following types of geomembranes, can be used under this word:

  • Profiled geomembranes (with a volume profile, used for drainage and protection of waterproofing, as well as for concrete preparation, insulation of stylobate parts, etc.)
  • Smooth geomembranes HDPE / LDPE with geotextile and without: they are used for insulation of stylobate parts, for the construction of slurry tanks, tanks, etc.
  • Textured geomembranes HDPE / LDPE - geomembranes with a protruding profile, used for insulation of stylobates, concrete, less often waterproofing the foundation. Their feature is a non-slip surface.
  • EPDM geomembranes - are used for the device of waterproofing of inversion, ballast roofs, foundations, etc. Used in cases of increased requirements for building structures and structures, the life of EPDM membranes is more than 50 years.
  • PVC, TPO geomembranes - polymeric membranes without reinforcement, which can also be used for waterproofing foundations, reservoirs, etc.
  • Bituminous geomembranes - conventional roll waterproofing materials that can also perform waterproofing function in underground building structures (waterproofing foundations, insulation of stylobates, waterproofing of bridges and roads, etc.)
  • Membranes with radon and methane shielding - in the role of such a geomembrane there can be a special material such as Delta Radonsperre, or you can choose a membrane with the existing foundation protection property from the effects of radon and methane of the type Iso Drain 8H / Plastfoil Geo

Using different types of geomembrane

Geomembranes are used, depending on the type and type for a variety of purposes: reservoir drainage, filtration, waterproofing, reinforcement of the roadway. So, geomembrane 4 + 4, is widely used in Germany in the construction of sharp corners on the autobahns to prevent the exit of roadbeds, and geomembranes are used to device a blind area, the output of excessive moisture. Often in Europe, profiled geomembranes are used for floor installation in rooms. Also profiled geomembranes are used for the device of green roofs, artificial landscaping, etc.
