Non-woven needle-punched geotextile

Nonwoven materials of this type have high strength characteristics, are resistant to UV radiation, resistant to fungi and bacteria, and also are of little interest to different rodents, the service life of nonwoven needle-punched geotextiles from 1 to 30 years, depending on strength and operation

What is used for?

Non-woven geotextiles can be used as reinforcing webs in road construction, as a separation and drainage layer. However, it is important to remember that non-woven needle-punched geotextile does not have a filter function, because Needle piercing holes very quickly become silted, and in the case of needle-punched geotextiles, the drainage function also disappears due to the fact that the geotextile becomes completely waterproof.

What modifications are encountered

Non-woven geotextile is available in modifications from 100 g / m2 to 600 g / m2 in increments of 50 grams / m2. There are other modifications, however, it is rather rare and, as a rule, are made to order with the volume of purchase from 100 000 m2 and more. Non-woven needle-punched geotextile made of polypropylene and polyester is produced. Polypropylene and polyester, in turn, can be secondary (recycled). Non-woven geotextiles from secondary raw materials have different color scales (since the color of plastic bottles that are processed for the production of polypropylene each time is different), from light gray to shades. Closer to the black color. Needle-punched geotextile from primary raw material is white.

The difference between the use of geotextiles from primary and secondary raw materials is that materials from primary raw materials have more uniform strength characteristics, as well as a longer service life.

Manufacturers of geotextiles

In Russia, many companies position themselves as producers of geosynthetic materials, but 90% of them are not such, real manufacturers of nonwoven needle-punched geotextiles in Russia - 3: Sibur Geosint, Tehnpolymer, Avantex, any other brand of geotextile - is the result of sticking their labels onto rolls of the above-mentioned manufacturers. It is also important to mention the well-known geotextile DORNIT - it's the same non-woven geotextile as all the others, but made of primary raw materials (white), the name of the geotextile originated from the name of the research institute DOR NII, which "developed" this material in 1983.

How not to be mistaken when buying geotextiles:

  1. When purchasing a non-woven needle-punched geotextile, most of the sellers send a density below the designated one. The ratio between the paid and actually acquired geotextile density should not exceed 10%. That is, if you bought 100 m2 of non-woven textiles of 200 densities, the roll should weigh not less than 18 kg without packaging, otherwise we recommend returning the goods to the seller, preliminarily in the pigment form indicating the essence of the claim.
  2. When buying large volumes, geotextiles are often pumped with water to increase its weight characteristics, often buyers pay unscrupulous suppliers of "300" geo-textiles, and in fact receive "150" with water being pumped into rolls. That is, to check the geotextile is not only on the weight, but also on the humidity of the canvas.
